CSV ↔ JSON Converter

Turn spreadsheet-style CSV into JSON, or JSON back into CSV, in one click.

Paste CSV to convert it.

How to use the CSV and JSON converter

  1. Choose the direction: CSV → JSON or JSON → CSV.
  2. Paste your data. For CSV the delimiter is detected automatically, or you can pick it yourself.
  3. Adjust the options, such as whether the first row is the header and whether numbers should become real numbers.
  4. Copy the result or download it as a .json or .csv file.

About this tool

CSV is the plain-text format that spreadsheets export, and JSON is the format most web code expects. Converting between them by hand is tedious, especially when values contain commas or line breaks inside quotes. This tool reads quoted values correctly, including doubled quotes, and writes them back the same way.

For CSV → JSON with a header row you get an array of objects, one per row. For JSON → CSV the columns are collected from all objects, so rows with different keys still line up. Values that are objects or arrays are written into the cell as JSON text.

Frequently asked questions

Which delimiters are supported?

Comma, semicolon, tab and pipe. Auto-detect looks at the first line of your data and picks the one that appears most often outside quotes.

What does “Convert numbers and true/false” do?

With it on, values like 42 or 3.5 become JSON numbers and true/false become booleans. Values with leading zeros, such as 007, stay as text so codes and zip numbers are not damaged. Turn it off to keep every value as a string.

Can I convert Excel files?

Not directly. Save the sheet as CSV first (File → Save as → CSV) and paste or open that file here.

What JSON shapes can be converted to CSV?

An array of objects, an array of arrays, or a single object. Other shapes show an error that explains what is expected.
